Prayer - A Poem

I woke up early one morning,

And rushed right into the day,

I had so much to accomplish,

That I didn't take time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,

And heavier came each task,

"Why doesn't' Hashem help me?" I wondered,

He answered, "You didn't ask!"

I wanted to see joy and beauty,

But the day toiled on gray and bleak,

I wondered why Hashem didn't show me,

He said, "But you didn't seek."

I tried to come into Hashem's presence,

I used all my keys at the lock,

Hashem gently and lovingly chided

"My child, you didn't knock!"

I woke up early this morning,

And paused before entering the day,

I had so much to accomplish,

That I had to take time to pray.

  1. omg so true!! thanks Devorah! when you take the time and energy to really invest in your davening, you come out feeling so good, the day goes so smoothly, and you established your connection to Hashem in the morning and it remains there trhoughout the day. esp on those days when theres so much going on you cant clear your head to pray- thats when its most imperative you do so and it will all go well. Im putting that poem in my siddur ;) thanks!
